The film tells the story of an African American itinerant worker who encounters a group of East German nuns when he stops at their convent to fill his “thirsty” car with water. They believe he was sent to them by God to build them a new chapel in the desert. Soon he is caught up in the nuns’ expectations while at the same time, perhaps finding his own sense of purpose in the chapel.
April 4- The Scarlet and the Black (2hr, 18 Min) In Nazi-occupied Rome, Vatican official Monsignor Hugh O’Flaherty wages a secret campaign against the Third Reich. Using his influence and position, he takes part in efforts to rescue Allied refugees from imprisonment by the Gestapo. His efforts soon cause him to become a target of the SS, led by Colonel Kappler. The Monsignor’s diplomatic status affords him some protection, but the relentless German Colonel will stop at nothing to halt Monsignor O’Flaherty’s endeavors.
